Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki has been one of the most important business books of my career. What is Rich Dad about exactly?

Robert Kiyosaki had the great good fortune to grow up with two dads as business models. And what contrasts they were! His biological dad followed the 'traditional' model of go-to-school, get-good-grades and get-a-good-job. His father became the state Superintendent Of Education of Hawaii, constantly increased the size of his debt as his income grew, and unfortunately lost it all when he ran for public office and failed.

His other dad, the father of his best friend, was an entrepreneur without much formal education who became one of the richest men in Hawaii.

Of course, neither model is "right" and the story of either dad could have could have had a different ending.

But Kiyosaki was able to get a close up view of both models and make his choices accordingly. He shares what he has learned about money in this illuminating (to me, at least!) book.

Did you ever learn about money in school? I didn't and I tried to figure it on my own. The materials I found were either intimidating or boring beyond belief. Rich Dad Poor Dad puts it all so simply that it's easy to understand and follow basic principles of personal finance, wealth and success.

This wonderful, true story explains better than I ever could ...

A mother who was teaching her children about Kiyosaki's principles had a friend over to visit. The friend was newly divorced and was talking about her money problems. Finally, she asked, “When will money stop being a problem for me?”

The mother's 10 year old daughter, who was quietly playing in the corner, replied, without even looking up, "When your passive income exceeds your expenses."
