Collectible Toy Tea Sets Sought After by eBay Tea Set Collectors
Collectible toy tea sets are very popular items on eBay. Some of the prices these sets command is truly astonishing to those unacquainted with their popularity.
For instance, this cherry red transferware toy tea pot set, manufactured by Charles Allerton, brought a healthy price of $313.77 and had 20 bids. The set included the tea pot, complete with a lid; a sugar bowl; a possible slop bowl, to contain tea paraphernalia; six cups and six saucers.

Other collectible tea sets that fetched high prices include:
* "Old German Graniteware Childs Floral Toy Tea Set", $229.50, 15 bids
* A purple Mickey and Minnie Mouse tea set from the 1930s (our personal favorite :-) had 17 bids and sold for $229.40. This treasure had the original box, making it a rare find, indeed.
* A 1940s set from the Ohio Art Company, with four cups and saucers went for $210.06 and showed 11 different bidders. The Ohio Art Company has made lithographed tin toys in Bryan, Ohio, since 1918.
The kinds of tea sets that bring such high prices aren't the plastic toys that children play with on an every day basis. These are the collectible toy tea sets, as opposed to full sized ones and their auction prices depend on:
* Age: the older, the better
* The fineness of the china: the thinner and higher quality, the better
* Condition: even with cracks in the glaze, collectors want the pieces. Chips are less desirable, though
* Any set is more valuable if it is in the original box
* The manufacturer is important. Usually, those that have gone out of business are more desired by the passionate collector
High quality collectible toy tea sets are not toys, but cherished miniature works of art, displayed but rarely or never used. We can only imagine dolls or teddy bears partying with these delightful works of art.
