Dept 56 on eBay: Department 56 Not Just Seasonal Items

Department 56 on ebay remains a strong market, even in the "off times" of the year. The ever-popular buildings accessories and people represent the collecting mania of North America.

Even waaaaaaaaaay out of season Dept 56 items sell well, such as a Halloween village, offered in the spring which received $278.67 and 17 bids.

In recent auctions (2004) the Dickens Christmas village remains a strong favorite, with 19 pieces selling for $923.74 with 21 bids.

However, current "themes" are strong, too, such as this Lord Of The Rings set with a generous price:

Pieces fetch more money if they are older, such as a "Department 56 Dickens Village Jones & Co Brush & Basket" whose owner states: "Recently acquired at an estate sale, this item comes with its original packing, tag and electrical cord. It is dated on the bottom 1984. I found no chips, cracks or breaks. It is in excellent condition. I am not an expert on these, so PLEASE contact me with any questions at least 24 hours prior to end of auction.". This piece sold for $251.01 and had an enormous 44 bids!

Dept 56 is definitely a strong market on eBay, but to maximize profits it is necessary to do proper marketing - it isn't going to sell itself!
