While new technologies are one of the best areas where you can make a lot of money on eBay, they are also one of the most dangerous for unwary or uneducated seller. What is HDTV?

HDTV stands for high definition television. HDTV sets offer four or six times as clear view as the old SDTV. Most of the time HDTV relies on digital broadcasting instead of analog one, due to the better bandwidth and transfer speed. All necessary technologies have been known since 1990s, but for several reasons HDTVs have started to gain popularity only recently. One of them was bad marketing – no one explained buyers why they really need to spend a few thousand dollars for a new TV set. Another was a discord between manufacturers concerning the transmission and picture standards (720 or 1080 lines). And last, but not least, the availability of HDTV channels is limited at best. Though it was be explained by the low number of high definition-ready TV sets, with over 33 million US households that own a HDTV, this argument rapidly loses importance.
