The single most important thing in the construction equipment auction preparation is choosing a proper item.

Sometimes you have little to say in that regard – you have an old skid steer and you have to sell them – but more often you can do at least a limited choice.

If so, get used (yes, used) construction equipment of a popular brand name. This will maximize the interest in your auction.

Good Listing

Take a lot of pictures, polish the look of your listing until it will attract rather to frighten bidders. Remember to post pictures showing all areas that are often attacked by the rust. This will (a) prove that your construction equipment is rust-free and (b) make you look even more professional. Auctions are very personal thing and oftentimes such small feelings are all that is required to make a bidder raise his bid additional $100-$200.

Shipment Options

The Achilles' heel of all construction equipment auctions is shipment. Construction equipment is big, heavy and certainly not acceptable by DHL weight standards. However, in order to maximize the added value of e-commerce, you have to at least try to add some shipment methods (probably freight). You won't make much money on eBay if all your customers have to live in a 20-mile radius from your house.
