How to spoil a construction equipment sale: what a seller must NOT do
If you have just run your first construction equipment sale on eBay and found out that no one has placed his or her bid above your reserve price, you usually have no idea what has gone wrong. As the result, you do not know how to improve your future performance. Construction equipment sales are difficult to manage, that's true, but they aren't magic and everyone can sooner or later learn how to start (and complete!) a successful construction equipment auction. Below there is a list of four most common eBay problems – the chances are that you have suffered from one of them.

loader is a fairly typical construction equipment sale on eBay
1. Inappropriate auction settings
First off, check your reserve price. It is NOT the same as “buy it now price”. The reserve price is just the lowest price you're willing to accept.
Another common eBay settings problem is starting a construction equipment sale from $1 or $10. If the lowest bid is set for too low value, the chances are that the auction will not wind itself up to more reasonable regions.
2. No shipment information
You always have to put shipment information in a listing, especially in case of construction equipment sales. Lack of it will scare most reasonable buyers, leaving you with newbies or people placing bids for fun, not serious customers. Construction equipment isn't something you put in an envelope and drop in the mail, so if you don't figure out how the buyer can receive your goodies, you will be confining yourself to the local market only.
3. Too much advertising in a listing
Do not put too much commercial information in the listing or you will risk scaring them. This is especially important in case of construction equipment sales where the technical information is the thing buyers will be most interested in. The casual buyer will never see your auction, whereas those are ARE interested, already know a great deal about the equipment
4. Checking your email box every three or four days
Construction equipment sales, especially if you're dealing in used stuff, are very likely to result in flooding you with bidders' questions. You have to answer them quickly – if you wait for more than 24 hours it is highly probable that the potential customer will simply put a bid on another auction and will lose interest in your wares.
