Free Article Content: Be Careful Of So-Called "Free" Content For Your Articles

Website content is one significant aspect in online businesses, and only an originally written content can pave your way to the top of your business’ success. Although using free article content from several free website content directories could be an option to those website owners who work as affiliates for quite a few companies and yet don’t have the ample budget to outsource professionals to put up tailor-made contents for their website, they should not expect to get numerous visitors and rocketing profits. Some webmasters are often mislead to the presumption that building small niche websites using free content can drive visitors to their websites and earn them money comparable to those contents which are original.

There are at least three reasons why a webmaster should not expect his business to grow if he is using free article content.

First, the site you are trying to build up is more likely to have trouble with the search engines. If your site contains exactly duplicated content from the other sites, search engines will surely put your website down, thus giving your site a seemingly low search engine ranking. It has to be noted that search engine rankings are vital in getting visitors to drop by your site and go to your affiliate sites by clicking the links you have there. So, if you have a low search engine ranking causing your site not to get even just a few visitors, then you are least likely to earn revenues. Search engine optimization has to be your first priority if you want to reap high rankings and get customers to buy from your site.

The second problem you need to tackle is how to convince your visitors to click on your affiliated links. Apart from the hard work you need to do in order to get high results on search engines and getting site visitors, you still need to strive some more. Now, the next thing you need to exert efforts on is to have your visitors click on your affiliate links. You can’t expect them to click through your links if they have already seen your site content from several other sites. This will cut down their trust on you and would discourage them to buy the products and services you are selling to them. If they realize that your site content is carbon copied from other sites, they will view you as someone who is not really adept and will just doubt the quality of your products. This will then cause you a declining number of visitors who are willing to give your affiliate links a click.

Lastly, author bylines also pose threat to your site’s success. You are allowed to use free article content on your site only if you are willing to place the author’s byline below the article you have duplicated. This is a stipulated rule, so anyone who violates this would surely get into trouble. Now, how can the author byline be a risk? Most author bylines contain links, and when your visitors who seem intrigued by the article they have just read is more likely to click on the author byline rather than your affiliate links. This is basically the main reason why authors are willing to give out their content for free, so that they can have their name and links publicized. And using this sort of content can only mean loss of valuable website visitors and revenues.
