Chanel clothing is known as that which freed women not only from dreadful corsets, but also from other complicated types of wardrobe. (Bless you, Coco Chanel!)

Chanel clothing designs were simple, but still beautiful and, what is also important, functional. Of course there were some gypsy skirts, probably inspired by her work in cabaret, but the main clothing line was made for independent, working women, just as Coco Chanel was herself. CC charm was not only in the fashion but also in details. Even the buttons were made independently for every collection.

Since the death of Coco Chanel in 1971 the company has been taken over and looked after by Karl Lagerfeld who has been the chief designer of Chanel's fashion house since 1983. The main line of the Chanel clothing remains unchanged, and is still prevalent, contenting Coco’s great talent and intuition. Furthermore, under Karl Lagerfeld’s management the firm grew bigger so Chanel clothing are now more accessible and little bit cheaper. In addition, Chanel under Lagerfeld's management has branched out into 'trendier" areas than the original clothing, as evidenced below:

Prices of Chanel clothing:

Today an average Chanel suit costs about $5,000, while prior to the death of Coco Chanel the cost was about $12,000. It is a high price, but in comparison to other designer brands it is an acceptable price for perfect clothing and the well known logo of Coco Chanel. Also, many pieces of Chanel clothing have little lower prices than those of other firms, becoming more and more popular, not only because of their beauty, but also more reasonable prices.
