Adobe PDF: Have Your Documents Safely Secured Using Adobe PDF

Adobe PDF is the most commonly used program for reading PDF files.  What is a PDF file?  PDF stands for Portable Document Format is type of format used for sharing files that needs to be protected from unauthorized editing or copying.  A PDF file has a .pdf extension to set it apart from other file formats.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is not the only software which can be used for viewing PDF documents.  However, most computer users prefer to use Adobe Reader along with other Adobe program applications.

A PDF file retains its original formatting and lay out regardless of the operating system used by the viewer.  Thus, whether you’re using Mac, Windows, Linux or other types of operating systems, when you open a PDF file, you will be able to see the original content and version of that file.

Aside from viewing, printing the documents will still preserve its original style of formatting.  For this reason, PDF files are often used for publishing electronic documents, and more especially files in e-book format.  Articles that contain annotations, hyperlinks, logos, design and unalterable details are best saved as PDF files to protect its contents.

Using PDF formatted files is ideal for sharing documents through the internet especially via e-mail.  Employment contracts that need to be transferred via e-mail make use of PDF file formatting for protection and preservation of the exact contents.  If you want your recipient to view the exact same look and style you created in a document, and if you want to avoid anyone from editing the contents, saving it and sending it using a PDF format will ensure that it will not changed or altered in any way.

Another advantage of sending documents using PDF, is that the threat of acquiring viruses are avoid.  Unlike with document file which has been saved as word or wordperfect file, there is always the possibility that it will pick up viruses as it is being transferred over the internet.  Furthermore, when the file is too large, these files usually take a longer time to download than PDF files.

The Adobe PDF Reader is available in the internet for downloading at no cost.  However, its counterpart software, Adobe Acrobat, which is used for creating and editing PDF files, is available at a price of around US$280.  Microsoft Word has also introduced its latest addition to Word application, where users can convert their existing .doc, document files to .pdf format.
