The truth about wholesale handbags is that just because a Louis Vuitton that retails for $2,500 is selling on ebay for $325 that doesn't mean ALL LV handbags sell at these prices.

The vast majority of the handbags sold on the internet are "factory overruns". A designer orders 2000 handbags from a factory. The factory fulfills the order - but has leftover fabric and handles and makes 250 more bags - unauthorized purses. Are those bags authentic? Maybe - but they were not checked for quality control aren't really "authentic".

1. Jane's Deals (http://www.janesdeals.com) has a wonderful feature: you send the money to the site and they don't release it to your supplier unless you are satisfied. Of course, to protect suppliers, they don't return your money until you have returned the merchandise to the seller.

2. Luxury Brands (www.luxurybrandsllc.com), offers genuine designer handbags. Last week, for instance, the sold 5 Prada bags for $731.99 - and these sold on eBay for prices ranging from $189.50 - $219.

3. Authentic Wholesale (http://www.authenticwholesale.com/index.html) is very reputable, but their minimum order is $2,500 and going up to $12,000. The larger the amount you buy at any one time (from any wholesaler), the better the price.

Like many true wholesalers, supply is erratic. Some weeks there might be huge supplies of handbags and purses - and at other times there are none.

The wholesale handbag market is like all others - you, and you alone, are responsible for doing your due diligence. Don't get carried away by what appears to be a great deal until you have done your homework.
